Temperament is the inborn part of man that determines how he/she reacts to people, places, and things. Further, temperament pinpoints our perception of ourselves and the people who love us, and it is the determining factor in how well we handle the stresses and pressures of life.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:13-16
This scripture tells us we were designed before we were born; created exactly as God intended, including both our strengths and weaknesses. We have a responsibility to live up to our potential, correcting the correctable defects. Our self-worth will benefit from praising God for designing us the way we are. It is the understanding and acceptance of one’s unique self through this process that enables each individual to allow God to effect change in his or her life.
